KNOW YOURSELF

The first part of deciding whether or not a career in information technology is for you is to do some self assessment. Find out about your interests, abilities, work values, etc. and how they might suit you for careers in this are. Check out the links below for some assessment tools:

The Career Key is an on-line career assessment tool that will give you a 2 or 3 letter code based on occupational interest areas. Once youšve completed the questionnaire, it will give you a list of potential occupations to consider. If you have an "I," "C," or "E" in your code, then IT careers may be something for you to further explore.

Career Questionnaire This online career survey asks you a variety of questions about your skills, abilities, interests, etc. and then provides a list of potential occupational matches based on your answers.

Personality Type & Careers One way to look at careers that may be enjoyable to you is by considering your personality. This on-line personality quiz allows you to answer a number of questions about your personality, confirm your personality type and then read about careers that may suit you based on your personality.
